Albert Costa was a dear friend and colleague who died young but accomplished much. We provide brief sketch of his scientific contributions to the field psycholinguistics bilingualism. The articles included in special issue are then presented along three research topics developed by own career: Lexical access bilingualism, executive control judgement decision making foreign language. explore such as competition within across words unimodal or bimodal bilinguals, its links domain-general control, reshaping word form knowledge following second language learning, stakes methods involved investigating accented speech, contrast between native hope this collection provides an up-to-date perspective on rich bilingualism research, modest homage our late colleague.
